A Year in Review: Truck Accident Attorney, Board-Certified by the NBTA, David W. Craig

For more than 26 years, Managing Partner David W. Craig has dedicated himself to the growth of Craig, Kelley & Faultless and advocating for truck accident victims, and this year was no different. The firm now has two of only four attorneys in Indiana that are Board-Certified in Truck Accident Law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, accredited by the American Bar Association, and David is one of them.

From handling cases to publishing books and organizing seminars, 2025 has been a busy year for David. Here is his year in review.

A Regular Conference Speaker

David was heavily involved in a variety of legal conferences this year. Most important of the conferences was the “Winning Truck Wreck Cases” seminar in August, which was hosted by David and his firm partner Scott A. Faultless, as well as presented by the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association.

The seminar was comprised of several informative sessions related to truck accident law and involved experts from both the legal and trucking industry. David’s presentation was about “Increasing the Value of the Truck Wreck Case”, where he shared his experience working and developing the value of these complex cases.

This was the second year that Craig, Kelley & Faultless hosted the seminar. Attorneys and paralegals came from Indiana and out of state to learn more about trucking litigation and network with peers within the niche. The seminar will be held on August 10, 2026.

Alongside his partner Scott A. Faultless, David ran a four-hour workshop for the Florida Justice Association’s John Romano Workhorse Seminar in February. Their workshop covered several trucking topics, such as litigating a truck case, investigating accidents, commercial driver’s license requirements and industry standards, insurance coverages, effective strategies, and overcoming defense tactics.

David also spoke at a conference in June for Crisp, a law firm growth company, in Atlanta, Georgia. His presentation centered around key performance indicators (KPIs) and how using them as goals for growth and efficiency improved the success of the firm.

In September, David traveled to Austin, Texas to speak at the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys (ATAA) Annual Symposium. He hosted two informative sessions, which incorporated collaborations with professional truck drivers to share their perspectives on the industry and discussed how learning from truck drivers can help attorneys build their truck wreck cases.

The Personal Injury Mastermind Conference (PIMCon) was held in Scottsdale, Arizona from October 5 – 8 this year, with David presenting on the 6th. The conference is a curated event that provides personal injury attorneys with the opportunity to build their skills by learning and networking with the “GOATs” of the industry. David’s session delved into marketing law firms specifically for truck accident cases, with emphasis on the importance of building expertise and gaining clients through educating the public.

A Podcast Extraordinaire

David has continued production of his podcast After the Crash, which ranks in the top 10 for personal injury podcasts nationally, according to FeedSpot, and now has 73 episodes. The podcast has two segments, one where David interviews professionals from the trucking and legal industry, and “Ask David” where guests interview David instead. In addition to hosting his own podcast, David frequently guest stars in the podcasts of his peers and colleagues. This year, he appeared on six different podcasts.

The first was The Success Partner, hosted by Daya Naef, which explores the stories of attorneys, business professionals, and entrepreneurs. On the episode, David walked listeners through choosing the right truck accident or personal injury attorney, what to expect from a truck accident lawyer, how to verify their credentials, building a successful firm, and why a compassionate attorney matters.

Leading up to PIMCon, David spoke on the Personal Injury Mastermind podcast with host Chris Dreyer. He and Chris talked through the ways David changed the firm’s marketing tactics to focus on consumers and potential clients, as opposed to fellow attorneys. The best methods for doing so included sharing his legal knowledge with the general public, creating a reliable legal team, and offering the firm’s attorneys leadership opportunities.

While in Texas for the ATAA Symposium, David guest starred on Canadian attorney Steve Grover’s podcast, Bulldog Brewhouse Podcast, where he discussed his legal journey and the steps he took to advance his career. He covered topics such as learning from both successes and losses, the importance of trial skills for truck accident attorneys, and the steps one needs to take to build expertise in truck accident law.

On the Lawyers Stories podcast, David spoke about his latest book and how he became a truck accident attorney. More importantly, he elaborated on his efforts to educate the public through his books and podcast and covered some methods to help listeners research the best attorney for their case.

For Hot Docket podcast, David expanded on his methods of helping clients through education and advocation. Some of those tactics incorporate centering David’s informative podcast and books on the landing page of the firm’s website, making knowledge of truck wreck law accessible for clients as they research attorneys. He also works to prioritize hiring quality employees that handle clients with care and compassion.

David appeared in fellow Truck Accident Attorney Michael Cowen’s podcast, Trial Lawyer Nation, where they considered how understanding of the trucking industry can improve litigation skills. This expertise helps attorneys build a robust defense when challenging trucking companies in court.

Lastly, David spoke on the It’s Time for Moore Injury Funding podcast, diving into what it means to work in personal injury litigation. They discussed misconceptions about personal injury attorneys, the extraordinary skill and preparation it takes to work trucking and catastrophic injury cases, and how technology is changing the profession.

A Featured Subject

Throughout the year, David was featured in several magazine articles regarding his career success and advice he has for aspiring attorneys, as well as writing some articles of his own. One of which was The World’s Best magazine, which elevates the voices of outstanding lawyers, writers, and visionaries all over the world. David spoke with them for the July 2025 issue, where he shared the influences and inspirations of his legal career and his thoughts on leadership, advocacy, and public education in the legal field.

David was also interviewed for Authority Magazine’s August 2025 issue, where he was part of a series of interviews with a variety of attorneys that covered career highlights, inspirations, and advice for attorneys new to the profession. Some of the tips he shared involved picking a niche early on and becoming an expert, only taking opportunities that advance your knowledge of that niche, and focusing on your firm and clients instead of your competitors.

For legal blog Attorney at Work, David wrote an article about focusing more on his firm’s mission and credibility than competing with other firms in the advertising space. He covers topics like using your mission as a management tool, creating trust with consumers by sharing expertise, and letting competence speak for itself.

Finally, David shared the questions he thinks crash survivors should ask an attorney before hiring them in an article for Crash Support Network. Some examples were asking how much trial experience they have and how many trials were for trucking cases, if the attorney is board-certified, how the attorney investigates truck wrecks, and more.

A Bestselling Author

David’s second book, It’s Never Been Easier to Hire the Wrong Attorney, was released in May this year. Focusing on what to look for when hiring an attorney and how best to research, the book has been a major success. It was also featured in USA Today!

Shortly after its publication, the book was ranked as a bestseller and top new release in several categories across Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Rakuten Kobo. These accolades included #1 Bestseller in Legal Services for Amazon, #1 Bestselling in Law NOOK Books for Barnes & Noble, and #1 in Legal Profession eBooks for Rakuten Kobo.

Additionally, the book was awarded the San Francisco Book Festival award, where it was recognized as the winner for their 2025 How-To category. The festival highlights entries from several genres in both fiction and nonfiction. Entries are judged on general excellence and potential for the work to reach a wide audience.

A Dedicated Attorney

For the tenth consecutive year, David was recognized in the 2026 Edition of Best Lawyers® under the category The Best Lawyers in America®. Best Lawyers® has been a leading legal resource for more than 40 years and is entirely based on peer reviews, honoring attorneys in 150 practice areas.

In February, David was named in the Top 50: Indiana Super Lawyers list for the third consecutive year. He has been a Super Lawyers Honoree since 2011 and has been on the Top 50 list since 2023.

Even though David was busy this year sharing his expertise with other lawyers around the country, his top priority remained to be the law firm’s clients. The firm’s mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of its clients, and with the help of a great team of attorneys, paralegals, and others, he successfully wrapped up several serious injury and wrongful death cases. The firm was able to obtain multiple million dollars plus results,. They also resolved one case for over $20 million.

As David said, “Although I enjoy sharing my knowledge and expertise with others, the most important thing that I do is fight for my clients and their families. It is easy to get up every morning and head to the office when you have been trusted with such serious and complicated legal matters.”
