Adam Grill has over 20 years of experience as a truck driver, training instructor for truck driving, heavy equipment operator and trucking terminal supervisor. As the Co-Founder and President of The Legacy Corporation and Director of Motor Carrier Operations for the Atlantic Pacific Resource Group, Grill works to advance truck driving as a profession, ensuring that the career path reflects the highest degree of training, technology, opportunities and accountability that is demanded of good truck drivers.
This year, he will be sharing his expertise at the “Winning Truck Wreck Cases” seminar on August 4, 2025, helping attorneys and paralegals that handle trucking cases better understand what it takes to be a good truck driver.
Co-chaired by David W. Craig and Scott A. Faultless of the firm Craig, Kelley & Faultless and presented by the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, the seminar will consist of informative presentations related to truck accident law. This is the second year the event will be held.
Adam Grill’s Presentation on Telematics Discovery
Grill will present his topic, “The When, Why, and What of Telematics Discovery” during the seminar’s morning session. Telematics is crucial to collecting evidence for trucking cases.
Telematics devices, or electronic logging devices (ELDs) in commercial motor vehicles act like black boxes in airplanes. They are installed inside the vehicle and communicate with GPS satellites, onboard cameras and sensors all while gathering specific data points. That raw data is then sent over cellular networks to the software provider’s servers.
The data that is collected typically includes variables like speed, acceleration, braking, time of day, location, and driver behaviors like sudden stops and sharp turns. All of these elements help attorneys visualize what was going on with the CMV at the time of an accident and see what factors may have contributed to an accident.
Shaping the Future of CMV Litigation and CDL Training
In addition to having all endorsements on his Class A Commercial Driver’s License, Grill is a certified pilot/escort driver, overhead crane operator, forklift and other equipment operator. His experience has led him to running a motor carrier fleet and brokers freight, as well as offering his services consulting and training motor carriers, the government, and others involved in the trucking industry.
Grill has assisted with over 2,000 litigation cases as a trucking industry standards of care expert and provides educational opportunities to legal and administrative professionals in the areas of truck driving, fleet management and more.
As the Co-Founder and President of The Legacy Corporation, Grill offers a unique approach to those working on truck wreck cases: he provides them with a truck driving course. The LEGACY Trucking Course for Legal Professionals offers classroom training and practical hands-on experience in a CMV, both operating the vehicle and observing how trained drivers do it, to help make a difference in the trucking cases attorneys handle.
Attendees are given the opportunity to practice fundamental and advanced CMV maneuvers. Fundamentals include basic control, shifting, left and right turns, reversing exercises, and slowing and stopping. More advanced maneuvers consist of abrupt slowing with firm braking, emergency stopping with hand braking, skidding to a stop, and fast lane changes.
Overall, The Legacy Corporation educates students on the latest technology available, with lessons taught by professional instructors inside the classroom and in the training yard.
