Presenting a Trucking Case to the Jury
Cowen’s session, titled “Framing the Trucking Case”, will explain to attendees how best to format their case for a jury. When taking a truck wreck case to trial, it is important for attorneys to understand how framing a trucking case for a jury can be different from other personal injury cases.
Bringing most accident cases in front of a jury involves many numbers and technical terms, like cost of medical bills, wage loss calculations, insurance minimums, and more. But truck wreck cases must also address regulations and terminology that jurors may not be familiar with, such as Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, chameleon carriers, and non-domiciled commercial driver’s licenses. While juries might not completely comprehend how those factors contribute to your case, they do understand the emotional turmoil a family has gone through, how an injury can completely change a victim’s life, and the grief that comes with the unexpected loss of a family member. Cowen will teach attendees how to craft their cases in a way that resonates with juries.
