Attorney David W. Craig Will Present at Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys Symposium

On September 19th, attorney David W. Craig will host two informative sessions during the 2025 Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys (ATAA) Annual Symposium in Austin, Texas. David is board-certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, accredited by the American Bar Association. The conference will bring together premium trial lawyers that specialize in trucking litigation from all over the country to discuss the nuts and bolts of handling cases involving semi-truck and other commercial motor vehicle accidents.

To achieve membership as a Board-certified member of the ATAA, a lawyer is vetted through a process that verifies the attorney’s experience and knowledge of handling these types of cases. On their website, the ATAA states that they seek “to separate the great lawyers from the great marketers”.

David has served on the ATAA Board of Regents since 2016 and is one of only four attorneys in Indiana that is board-certified. During the symposium, he will host two attorney breakout sessions that focus on the perspectives of truck drivers and how their experiences aid attorneys with depositions. David is a frequent national speaker and enjoys sharing his knowledge with other attorneys.

Focusing on Truck Driver Experiences

The first of David’s sessions is titled “Discussions with a Truck Driver”. Throughout his years of working as a truck accident attorney, David has had many depositions with truck drivers. To help him better understand the drivers that he deposes, David collaborates with other professional drivers to learn what is going on in the industry.

It is David’s belief that the more attorneys talk with professional drivers that hold CDLs, the more knowledge truck accident lawyers can gain. And when he occasionally represents truckers who have been injured by others in the profession, he takes the time to listen and understand the profession, regardless of whether he agrees with their views.

In the first session, David will interview a semi-truck driver on his thoughts surrounding safety equipment and the challenges currently facing the industry.

For his second session, titled “Video Interviews with Professional Truck Drivers”, David will expand further on the topics from the first session by incorporating the thoughts of more professional truckers. There is valuable information to be learned from truck drivers, and that insight can lead to successful depositions, as well as building relatability with defendants.

The goal of the interviews is to hear common opinions from CDL drivers to help attendees learn more about the inside of the trucking industry. Some of the interview topics will include speed limiters, driver facing cameras, crash avoidance and other safety equipment, quality of professional truck drivers today, and the biggest problems in the industry.

About the ATAA

The ATAA is a nonprofit organization with over 800 members, as well as a database of attorneys who are board-certified in truck accident law. The organization focuses on recognizing attorneys that possess documentable knowledge, valid experience, and proven success in handling truck accident cases so victims can choose the best attorney for them.

It also provides truck wreck lawyers with continued education and resources, such as the upcoming symposium from September 18th to 20th, and helps attorneys seeking board certification. Beyond its resources for attorneys, the ATAA advocates for judicial, legislative, and regulatory initiatives that improve highway safety and the trucking industry.
