As an authority in truck accident law, Craig is nationally recognized for his work on cases involving all kinds of commercial motor vehicle wrecks, has written and lectured extensively about navigating these cases, and serves on the Board of Regents for the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys.
Over the years, Craig has accumulated several accolades, including the recognition of Top 50 Indiana Super Lawyer since 2023 and Super Lawyers Honoree every year since 2011, achieving the highest rating — AV Preeminent — by his peers as provided by Martindale-Hubbell, has been named a Top 100 Trial Lawyer and Top 10 Trucking Trial Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers, and many more. Additionally, Craig has published two best-selling books, titled Semitruck Wreck: A Guide for Victims and Their Families and It’s Never Been Easier to Hire the Wrong Attorney, respectively. He also hosts the podcast “After the Crash” to inform the public about truck accident law and what to do following a truck wreck.
Wrecks Caused by Visibility Issues
Craig’s session, titled “Visibility Issues”, will go through the different visibility issues truck operators face while driving and how the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and the Commercial Driver’s License Manual advise professional drivers to handle visibility problems. Because these materials clearly outline how to alter their behavior or travel route to avoid poor visibility, a driver’s inability to see the road is not a valid excuse for a truck wreck.
Adverse weather conditions, such as snow, ice, heavy rain, and intense sun glare, can greatly affect how you should operate your vehicle in order to keep yourself and others safe. Many truck drivers feel pressured to continue driving in these conditions, but choosing to do so can result in catastrophic accidents. Craig will discuss how to handle the adverse weather case. He will also discuss what truckers reveal about how they handle adverse weather conditions.
