Truck Accident Expert David W. Craig Featured at 2026 ATAA

The Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys (ATAA) will be hosting its 2026 Specialized Program from March 18 – 20 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Titled “Vision: Seeing the Whole Truth in Trucking Litigation”, the program will focus on science, strategy and visual storytelling, covering topics like nighttime crashes and courtroom visuals. The program will feature a variety of specialists in truck accident law and is worth 11.5 hours of Continued Legal Education.

Nationally Recognized Truck Accident Attorney David W. Craig will speak on Thursday, March 19, sharing his presentation on weather conditions and how they affect the driver’s ability to see the roadway.

Weather Conditions and Visibility

David’s presentation, which covers a range of weather conditions that professional drivers encounter while behind the wheel and their impact on visibility, will provide attendees with the knowledge necessary to take on truck wreck cases where visibility is a primary factor. Guests can expect the presentation to go over the regulations for professional drivers when dealing with conditions like sun glare, torrential downpours, fog and dust/smoke.

For professional drivers, visibility is a crucial component of doing their jobs safely. When drivers encounter conditions that reduce visibility and choose not to adhere to guidelines for safely operating their vehicles in those conditions, it creates a risky environment for everyone on the roads.

David will share an in-depth overview of the regulations laid out for professional drivers in these scenarios, including specific sections of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) and the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Manual, as well as industry standards and resources. To provide insight into how professional drivers handle these weather conditions, he will also present the results of a truck driver survey he conducted, which features driver insights on the different hazards they have faced, how they choose to handle hazards and the capacity of employer assistance they have received. This data can help truck accident attorneys better understand driver perspectives on safety and learn the gaps in training standards.
