Board-Certified Attorney David W. Craig Brings Trucking Law Prowess to Seminar

David W. Craig has been serving Indiana residents in the courtroom since 1985. As a Top 50 Indiana Super Lawyer, one of the founding partners of Craig, Kelley & Faultless and one of only four attorneys in Indiana Board-Certified in truck accident law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA) and accredited by the American Bar Association, David is an experienced trial lawyer with plenty to offer his clients. And this year, he will be presenting at the “Winning Truck Wreck Cases” seminar on August 4, 2025, sharing his knowledge with other attorneys and paralegals to help them represent victims of trucking accidents.

The seminar, which is co-chaired by David and his firm partner Scott A. Faultless and presented by the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, will feature several informative sessions related to truck accident law. This is the second year the event will take place.

Seminar Speaker and Co-Chair David W. Craig

David will be presenting about “Increasing the Value of the Truck Wreck Case” during the morning session of the seminar. Truck wreck cases can be very complex, with many factors dictating settlement values on a case-by-case basis.

David will share his years of experience working and developing the value of cases. Attorneys need to begin doing everything they can to increase the value of the case as soon as they are hired. If an attorney waits to develop the value of the case, he/she may make it harder to get the full value.

David will discuss the crucial first steps for CMV cases, the measures to be taken while processing the case, preparing to mediate the case, and getting it ready for trial.

David’s Accolades and Accomplishments

Over the course of his career, David has handled a variety of cases regarding commercial motor vehicles, such as semi tractor trailers, flatbed trucks, garbage trucks, dump trucks, concrete trucks and buses. He is nationally recognized for his work on truck wreck cases and has written and lectured numerous times on how to navigate these cases.

Some of his prominent accomplishments include the following:

  • Top 50 Indiana Super Lawyer since 2023 and Super Lawyers Honoree every year since 2011.
  • Achieved the highest rating, AV Preeminent, by his peers as provided by Martindale-Hubbell.
  • Awarded the Thurgood Marshall “Fighting for Justice” Award.
  • Named a Top 100 Trial Lawyer and Top 10 Trucking Trial Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers.
  • Selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2025 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® in the practice area of Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs and has been included for several years.
  • Membership to the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.

And while his career has soared, so has his firm. Established in 1999, David and his colleagues Scott A. Faultless and William J. Kelley II began the firm at the dining room table of the Craig household, with the goal of dedicating themselves to helping personal injury victims. Now, the firm is made up of 10 attorneys licensed in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee and Iowa.

Additionally, David shares his knowledge of law and the trucking industry with the masses through the two books he has published, titled Semitruck Wreck: A Guide for Victims and Their Families and It’s Never Been Easier to Hire the Wrong Attorney, respectively. Both books have been bestsellers. He also hosts the podcast “After the Crash” to provide information on the trucking industry and what can be done after an accident happens.

Contributing to the Indiana Community

When David isn’t in the office, he’s giving back to the communities his firm serves. He is an advocate against distracted driving, educating others on the topic by offering demonstrations to show the dangers of texting and driving, drinking and driving, and distracted driving using a simulation machine owned by the firm. Additionally, he has forged efforts to promote bike safety for children, giving away over 10 thousand bike helmets in central and southern Indiana.
