Daniel J. Buba Brings Truck Accident Law Expertise to Seminar

Indiana Super Lawyer Daniel J. Buba has represented victims of trucking accidents for 15 years and is a founding partner of Doehrman Buba Ring personal injury firm. He has authored and presented numerous legal papers covering semi-truck litigation and traumatic brain injuries and frequently lectures at national and local seminars. This year, he will be sharing his expertise with colleagues in the field at the “Winning Truck Wreck Cases” seminar.

It is an honor to have Buba present at the seminar on August 4, 2025. Co-chaired by David W. Craig and Scott A. Faultless of Craig, Kelley & Faultless and presented by the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, the “Winning Truck Wreck Cases” Seminar is a day-long event meant to help attorneys navigate these cases.

Seminar Speaker Daniel J. Buba

Buba will present his topic “The BASICS of Broker Liability” during the afternoon session of the “Winning Truck Wreck Cases” seminar. Many truck accident cases require attorneys to sift through complex legal areas to reach the settlement that’s best for clients. One of these areas is truck broker liability.

Broker liability involves the responsibilities that come with arranging transportation services for commercial motor vehicle operations. Brokers organize the transportation of property via motor carrier. They then earn a profit by paying the motor carrier less than the amount set aside by the shipper to transport the load. This motivates brokers to engage motor carriers that are financially vulnerable. Financially unstable carriers may exhibit poor safety performance, often cutting corners on vehicle maintenance and driver hours of service regulations.

However, brokers have a responsibility to exercise reasonable care when hiring carriers to transport goods. This means ensuring the carriers follow the proper protocols for licensing, insurance, safety operations and more.

With this session, Buba will guide attendees on how to prove broker liability and achieve the best outcomes for clients.

Helping the Indianapolis Community, In and Out of the Courtroom

Buba is a partner at Doehrman Buba Ring in the Indianapolis area, focusing on litigating cases involving commercial motor vehicle and passenger car crashes, as well as traumatic brain injury cases. He has served as a Board Member of the Brain Injury Association of Indiana for over a decade. His dedication stems from a commitment to secure the compensation victims deserve, as well as ensuring they have access to the necessary resources for recovery.

Additionally, he is a former President of the Indianapolis Bar Association and currently selected to be an Indiana Super Lawyer. The award is limited to a small number of attorneys per state, and as one of the few lawyers to receive this distinction, Buba has achieved the respect of his colleagues as one of the top-rated attorneys in the country.

Beyond the Indy area, he was past Chair of AAJ’s Trucking Litigation Group and is presently acting as Parliamentarian of the Board of Regents for the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys.

When Buba isn’t representing clients, he is contributing to the Indianapolis Community, working to make an impact beyond the courtroom. He often volunteers for local organizations like Families First, Gleaners Food Bank and Second Helpings.
